if while watching an autopsy or while dissecting anything, you feel a bit whoosy, try smiling.
for some reason or another, this too works to keep one from vomiting, and suppresses the gag reflex. (and there was much rejoicing: "yay")

why do i do This (yes i'm repeating myself). i do it so maybe i can learn how to do it myself. so i can maybe learn how to ask someone to help me or listen to me, or to reach out to someone when i'm at my wit's end, and ready to crumble. you see, my grasshoppers, if you were to look closely enough, you wouldn't see a strong, steady, unblemished figure, but instead, thousands of cracks, flaws, scars, so much so, that at any moment i could give way and crumble into millions of pieces. held together only by shear will and fear of someone seeing those cracks, flaws, and scars.

an earworm is that song you get stuck in your head and can't for the live of you, get rid of.
be it some Spear Brittany song, or some boy band song, or that crap song they just tried to pass off as a rap song, if one sings the theme to Gilligan's Island, Green Acres, and sometimes Flipper, that song you once found stuck in your brain, as gone away.

why this works?
songs today are made to have little hooks in them. thats why they become popular and catchy. the trouble is, They stick with you for hours and annoy the hell out of you.

those theme songs i named above DON"T have hooks in them. so, once you've sung them, you mind has been taken OFF the others for long enough that it then can easily forget about the theme song too.

PARTS

The anterior chamber is the area bounded in front by the cornea and in back by the lens, and filled with aqueous.

RODS AND CONES

The bottom figure shows the distribution of rods and cones in the retina. This data was prepared from histological sections made on human eyes.

In the top figure, you can relate visual angle to the position on the retina in the eye.

Notice that the fovea is rod-free and has a very high density of cones. The density of cones falls of rapidly to a constant level at about 10-15 degrees from the fovea. Notice the blind spot which has no receptors.

But if you drink several large martinis, you'll discover you have STRONG VIEWS about the Peruvian economy. You'll be a WEALTH of information. You'll argue forcefully, offering searing insights and possibly upsetting furniture. People will be impressed. Some may leave the room.

Make things up.
Suppose, in the Peruvian economy argument, you are trying to prove that Peruvians are underpaid, a position you base solely on the fact that YOU are underpaid, and you'll be damned if you're going to let a bunch of Peruvians be better off. DON'T say: "I think Peruvians are underpaid." Say instead: "The average Peruvian's salary in 1981 dollars adjusted for the revised tax base is $1,452.81 per annum, which is $836.07 before the mean gross poverty level."

chromasthesia: numbers and letter of the alphabet have specific colors, genders, personalities, and textures

tis a very real condition and it's a constant, meaning you'd ALWAYS had it, and what ever a color to number/letter was when you were 7 is Still the same as it is today.

and this is why purple or blue for first place, red for second, and white for third is ALL WRONG!! but then again, peoples perception of the colors to numbers/ letters is very individual.

26: to clear up the dispute on sexual arousal

so there is a dispute between some males and females i know and the topic is "why does it take longer for females to "warm up" and climax, than males?"

first off. it is PROVEN than men and women are wired differently. from MRI and CAT scans its been shown that there are more parts of a woman's brain that respond to a stimuli, than a mans. that does NOT mean that women are better than men. it simply means, we're different. also, the brain is the major organ responsible for sexual arousal. hearing, seeing, smelling, or thinking of something sexy all contribute to sexual arousal.

secondly, lots of chemicals are coursing through one's body during arousal. while they basically act the same in both men and women, the effects are different. for men, it's relatively instant. for women, it takes longer for the chemicals to take affect. why? for reasons stated above; the difference in the way the brain is wired.

so regardless of the fact that there are more nerve endings in the clitoris, than there are in the penis head, Adrenaline, Oxytocin, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Endorphins, Estrogen and Testosterone, (all the chemicals released) and their affects on the brain, not to mention that the brain itself plays the largest role in arousal, makes for the difference in arousal times between men and women.

so, in conclusion, while men may be equated with bottle rockets, and women with diesel engines, never forget that more stimuli are involved than just what a nerve ending is feeling.

for three days i had a chain letter posted. why? just to see what people would say. however, it seems no one sees this site. oh well.

chain letters started in the late 19th century, and were spread about faster than the plague. most promied good luck if you complied and bad luck if you didn't. they also promised money, or l ve, or health, or blah blah blah. since the internet, they now also warn of terrible viruses, or trojans.

anyway, here and here are some interesting things to read about the subject that plagues everyone's inbox these days.

"Cajun": Frenchmen that settled in Canada and called a place of their own, Acadia. they then migrated to Louisiana in the mid 1700's after the British kicked them out of Canada.

Creole: individuals of european decent. the Creoles were already in Louisiana when the Cajun's migrated in. the Creoles were mostly teachers, landowners, businessmen, and artists.

after contacting family and getting history straight, we are Creole. not Cajun.

20: Blood-letting and Self-mutilation

Blood-letting:
therapeutic measure of the removal of blood, usually from a vein. has become popular amongst "goths" and vampire wannabe's. also a popular thing to do after one has gotten a fix at a party.

Self-mutilation (cutting):
one using any sharp object to cut one's flesh deep enough to allow bleeding and possible scaring. subject has no real reason for why they do it other than they feel in control, and it's better to feel physical pain than the mental pain. scars heal and sometimes go away. the mental scars never go away.

cutting has become more popular than blood-letting. cutting is about equal between the sexes, however, females tend to get over the need to cut quicker than males. females tend to cut for "petty", and selfish reasons. males tend to cut on account of things they can't control, or can't express.
in either case, both need serious help. if you are their friend, GET THEM HELP! even if you end up losing the friendship, it's better than losing the person.

Crawfish (or Shrimp) Ettoufee

1 stick butter/# crawfish/shrimp
1 yellow onion
1 36oz can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 15oz tomato sauce
2 10oz cans Rotels (diced tomatoes and green pepper)
2 Tbs cayanne pepper
2 1/2 handfulls green onion
1 1/2 handfulls parsley
roux - equal parts oil and flower, browned.
used med. brown foux to thicken.

cook onion in butter until translucent. add cyanne pepper, muchroom soup, sauce, Rotels, green onions, parsley, crawfish/shrimp.
simmer
add roux to thicken.
salt, pepper, and extra spices to taste.

best served over rice, but not too bad over noodles if you don't care much for rice.

there are only 6 hand built Accords. two were dismantled to make this.
it takes a while to load but it completely worth it.
execs signed off on the commercial without any hesitation.
when they saw it, they were amazed. when they found out about the two dismantlings, they fell off their chairs.
it took 606 takes to get it right without any minor complications.

it is a known fact that patients that have had open surgery and tissue and bones exposed to air, then become sensitive to the barometric pressure.

they are also now finding that patients with RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) are also somewhat in tune with the barometric pressure. and that with some patients, a higher salt intake helps lessen the severity of the pain they feel.

it's 11.47 pm. my legs are going crazy, and my wrist hurts to beat hell.

You Only Live Twice -John Barry

Casino Royale - In 1967 Columbia Pictures released a James Bond spoof. The opening theme was instrumental and was performed by Herb Albert. Also featured is the The Look Of Love sung by Dusty Springfield. The ending of the movie featured a of Herb Albert's instrumental Casino Royale.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Though the opening sequence does not have any vocal lines, it is a rather neat main title. lightning is the balancing of positive and negative electrons between: clouds, clouds and ground, or within a cloud.

thunder is the expanding of air that occurs when lightning suddenly heats the air. the expanding sends out a vibration and is heard as an explosion of sound.

to determine how far away from the storm you are, after you see a lightning bolt, count the seconds before you hear thunder. since sound moves at about 1 thousand feet per second, every 5 seconds is equivalent to about 1 mile. metrically, every 3 seconds equals about 1 kilometer.

but anyway you look at it, lightning is MUCH more fun to watch when you're out in it. ... or mostly knackered on grog....

9: Waldorf Salad

the Waldorf Salad was created by Oscar Tschirky, maitre d'hotel of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, in 1896.

the way it was served the is as such:

1 c chopped apples (a granny smith, a different tart apple, or a combination of tart apples)
1 TBS lemon juice
1 c shopped celery
1/4 c mayonnaise
Optional:
1/4 c raisins
1/4 c walnuts

sprinkle apples with lemon juice after cutting
combine all ingredients
toss until all pieces are coated with mayonnaise

the salad is typically served on a bed of lettuce.

why do the english put milk in tea?
to remove astringency, and overall bitterness from the taste of the tea.

why this works: the proteins in the milk bind with the tannins (polyphenols) responsible for these flavours, allowing tea to be made much stronger than it otherwise can be while remaining drinkable. the down side is the reduction in antioxidant power.

but at least i know why they do it now.

the Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop was born in 1931. it has become part of American history and holds many a memory. it gained in famous exposure when Telly Savalas, as Kojak, ate Tootsie Pops as he solved crimes.

the Tootsie Roll was invented by Leo Hirshfield, and Austrian immigrant. it's so named because of his daughter Clara, who's nickname was Tootsie. he came to the states in 1896, set up a small candy shop in NYC, and hand rolled each of the candies whos recipe he brought from the old country. today, though produced on a mass scale, the recipe has never changed.

Facts:
-candy was included in rations during WWII and others. Tootsie Rolls made up the bulk of the included candy and was highly valued by armed forces for it's ability to withstand severe conditions and give troops "quick energy"

- Tootsie Roll industries produce more than 16 million lollipops a day, making it the world's largest lollipop producer

- A chemical engineering doctorate student from the University of Michigan recorded that his licking machine required an average of 411 licks per Tootsie Pop.

there is no standing patent on the paperclip. of all the designs of paperclips out there, none of them are patented. HOWEVER, the machine that makes all these, IS patented. which is pretty clever.

the history behind the paperclip?
in 1899 Johan Vaaler of Oslo, Norway had to obtain a patent license on his invention from Germany because at the time, Norway had no patent office.
at the same time, in 1900 in the US, Cornelius J. Brosnan, of MA was awarded a patent on his version of the paperclip.

one of it's more profound unusual uses:
